.Xfiles receives 6 part mini series..
Supernatural series X Files is set to make a return to TV screens, with Fox signing of on a 6 part mini series.

The revival is aimed to close out the lingering storylines left by the series proper, which, much to the dismay of fans, were left unresolved by the second feature film I Want To Believe. The short order received for the series is mainly down to story requirements – a conclusion that execs came to after prolonged discussions with Chris Carter.

Both Gillian Anderson & David Duchovny will reprise their roles as FBI agents  Moulder and Scully for this limited run series.   It has been previously stated that a revial of the Xfiles had not come about due to both the actors previous heavy filming schedules, this has is also in part the reason for the short series order.

At this time it is being reported that Anderson and Duchovny have time to shoot the series this summer, with the new series expected to air on Fox next year.

Original writer Chris Carter is also said to be returning to pen the scripts, but at present no other sigings have been confirmed.  On the announcement for the renewal of the series Carter stated, “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”

The revival of the X Files follows on from last years successful revival of Fox 24: Live Another Day, it will also follow on from Tim Kring revival of Heroes, set to air in Autumn this year.
