Steve Austin who came tolight protrayed by Lee Majors back in the 1970’s could finally get a big screen adaption.  It has been talked about since the mid 90’s with 4 TV movies and 5 season of the series but no big budget production has ever come forward.  The last time this was spoke about was Bryan singer on as director with Leonardo DiCaprio as Steve Austin.

But now Peter Berg the man behind Lone Surviours and Hercules due for release this year, is looking to bring the  astronaut/test pilot who has  a catastrophically mutilating plane crash, who is then rebuilt with advance technology as a big budget production.

With the advancement in CGI and technology in its self it would also be a great time to really bring the 6 Million Dollar man to life, and Berg is eyeing up Mark Wahlberg to take the title role.

At the moment Berg is set to produce and as of yet its unclear as to whether he will also direct or if this will be assigned to someone else.   Universal are holding the purse strings on this one who along with Wahlberg are currently have huge success with Transformers: Age of Extinction.

More on this as we hear about it.

*Update* – Wahlberg will also produce the film through his company, Closest to the Hole Prods, with his partner Stephen Levinson. Although the original series was call ed 6 Million dollar Man it will be re- titled 6 Billion dollar Man.
