The Honorable Woman which is currently airing on BBC2 in the UK and set to begin airing on Sundance on the 31st January in the US, has gripped UK Audiences but can we expect a season 2 order.

According to creator Hugo Blick the Thriller starring Maggie Gyllenhaal will not see a sequel.

Speaking at the TCA summer press tour, Blick insisted that he has no plans to pen a follow-up to the eight-parter.

“Part of the trust we offer the audience is that it’s this story [and only this story],” Blick said. “We’re not trying to wink and say ‘Maybe there’s another one.’

“It’s got something profoundly engaging to say… because the conclusion it takes is final.”

However, Gyllenhaal who takes the lead role in the 9 part series has stated in a n interview that she would be up for a season 2 renewal stating,

“It’s really up to Hugo because he’s got to sit down and write another eight hours,” the actress said. “If it were to begin again, it would have to be a new chapter – a new volume.”

The series follows Nessa Stein who as a young girl witness the assassination of father by the Palestinian Liberation Organisation.  Now in her 30s, Nessa is at the forefront of the Middle East peace process. But when she awards a lucrative contract to a Palestinian businessman, who is later found dead, she finds herself under the close scrutiny of Whitehall and the Secret Intelligence Service.

The Honourable Woman continues this Thursday (July 17) at 9pm on BBC Two in the UK.
