Tyrant receive season 2 order

The new series from the creators of Homeland, tyrant has received a season 2 order from FX.

Tyrant premiered in the US back in June on FX opening to 2.10 million viewers, the show continued to hold its viewers finishing back in August to 1.52 million.

The new series has been given a 13 episode renewal, with it expected to air around the same time next year.

FX executive Nick Grad made the announcement of Tyrant’s renewal on Thursday (September 18).

“We’re so proud of Tyrant’s performance throughout its first season,” Grad said.

“Howard Gordon is one of the best and most successful producers in this business. His ability to combine intelligent, edge-of-your-seat storytelling with events from the current geopolitical climate is truly groundbreaking.”

Grad concluded: “We look forward to seeing how Tyrant grows in season two.”

It Tyrant continues on the same trajectory as Homeland then FX should see viewers grow as the seasons continue.

Tyrant stars Adam Rayner as Barry Al-Fayeed, a man who left his past behind 20 years ago is now  forced to deal with his Middle-Eastern descent.

The series also stars Jennifer Finnigan (Better With You) and Ashraf Barhom (The Kingdom).

Tyrant season 1 is currently airing on FOX in the UK on Fridays at 9pm.
