..The Joker comes to Gotham.
Gotham Season 2 is set to give us a deeper look into the Joker after seeing him introduced in Episode 16 ‘The blind Fortune Teller’.

Gotham have had fans of Batman gripped to season 1, with the introduction of such memorable characters like Penguin, The Riddler, Two Face, Poison Ivy to name but a few.  We also got a glimpse into a very young Joker portrayed by shameless star Cameron Monaghan.

It seems that Gotham are looking to give a new take on Batman’s nemesis, with him being named Jerome in the DC Comics series. According to previous comic publications The Joker was known as Jack Napier although the psychopathic villain has never been given a true back story, even though the character has been round since the 1940’s.

Probably one of the most recognised Comic book Villains with his White skin and Green hair, in previous depictions of the character it has been said that The Joker became to look like that after he fell into a tank of chemical waste which bleaches his skin white, turns his hair green and his lips bright red; the resulting disfigurement drives him insane.  This story line was also seen in Tim Burtons 1980 movie Batman, when Jack Nicholson took on the role of the iconic character.

Executive producer Bruno Heller commented on the return of The Joker to season 2 of Gotham stating, “You’re not going to see teases of the Joker before the end of the season, because the beginning of season two is a big Joker-oriented, or ‘how the Joker came to be’ kind of story,”

The series airs on Fox in the US and on Channel 5 in the UK, Season 2 is set to air this Autumn.
