The Brink starring Jack Black will not see a season 2

The Brink cancelled
After announcing that the Jack Black fronted comedy would be renewed, HBO have gone a complete turn around announced its cancellation.

The Political dramedy also starred Tim Robbins and Aasif Mandvi  as US diplomats stationed in Islamabad, Pakistan – a hotbed of unrest in the Middle East.

The original producer of the series Jerry Weintraub’s died whilst the first season aired, which is believe to be a contributing factor to is sudden cancellation.

The cable network announced: “After evaluating our schedule and our programming needs, we unfortunately decided we cannot give The Brink the attention it deserves for a second season.

“We are proud of the first season and wish everyone involved in this show the very best.”

Even with the cancellation, HBO has a fairly healthy slate of original comedy series. Their line-up for the next year includes returning series Veep, Silicon Valley, Togetherness, Girls and The Brink‘s time-slot companion Ballers, starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’; and new entries Divorce starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Danny McBride’s Vice-Principals, Brothers In Atlanta and Issa Rae’s Insecure.
