The first season of The 100 only finished airing on E4 in September, but it has now been confirmed it will be returning to the channel in early 2015.

Season 2 of the post-apocalyptic drama with Eliza Taylor and Bob Morley has been commissioned for 16 episodes which is currently airing in the US on The CW.

The 100 scored E4’s biggest ever programme launch earlier this year, attracting 1.7 million viewers overnight for its pilot episode.

The show is set nearly 100 years after a nuclear war has devastated Earth, with the survivors living in a space station known as The Ark.

100 juvenile prisoners are sent down to Earth to determine whether or not it is habitable, only for them to encounter other survivors named Grounders.

Paige Turco, Henry Ian Cusick and Isaiah Washington also star, as well as Thomas McDonnell, Christopher Larkin, Devon Bostick, Marie Avgeropoulos and Ricky Whittle.
