Sylvester Stallone will play career criminal Gregory Scarpa, in the True life mob Story.

Gregory Scarpa also know as the ” Mad Hatter” and the ” Grimm Reaper” was an iconic figure in the underground criminal world back in the 60’s, 70’s and  80’s.

Scarpa was involved in many illegal activities including gambling, loansharking, extortion, hijacking, counterfeit credit cards, assault, stock and bond thefts, narcotics and murder. Many of the highest-ranking members of the Colombo crime family today were members of Scarpa’s crew.

The movie is set to focus on his time from the 60’s when Scarpa became a police informant for  the FBI for the Mississippi Burning case, which involved the murder of three men who were working on the movement to allow African-American men the right to Vote.  Scarpa’s involvement in the case lead to him kidnapping a member of the Kl Klux Klan in the mid 60’s.

Scarpa eventually ended up in prison in 1993 for the murder of Joey  DeRosa’s, after DeRosa threatened his son Joey.

Scar  died a year later being sentenced to prison,  from Aids that he had contracted in 1986 from a blood transfusion.

The movie which has Brad Furman  ( Runner Runner) set to direct is due for release some time in 2015.
