Supergirl the new  comic book series from the creators of Arrow and the Flash, is set to air this Autumn but what do we know so far.

The series follows Kryptonian Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) also known as Superman cousins, after hiding her abilities for years she decides to embrace them and becomes Supergirl.

The producers of the show Andrew Kreisberg recently announced the beginning of filming via his twitter feed, by sharing the shows films slate.

“Up, up and away,” Kreisberg wrote.

He then added, “Can’t believe I’ve gotten to make three pilots with @geoffjohns #Supergirl #Arrow #TheFlash”

It has also been confirmed that former Superman Dean Cain is set to star in the CBS series, as well as former Supergirl her self from the 1984 movie Helen Slater.

Although both Cains and Slaters roles in the series are being kept under wraps, it has been confirmed who will be playing some of the other supporting cast these include, Laura Benanti as Kara’s mother Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as media tastemaker Cat Grant, David Harewood as government official Hank Henshaw and Mehcad Brooks as a new version of Superman’s pal Jimmy Olsen.

It has also been announced that Jeremy Jordan from Tv series Smash has been cast as Winslow ‘Wynn’ Schott, which is one of the aliases of Supergirls nemesis the Toymaker. He will appear in the pilot which is currently being filmed, and if picked up to full season order, may return as the man who wrecks havoc via his toy inspired gadgets.

Their has also been talks that Supergirl may cross over with both ‘The Flash’ and ‘Arrow’ over on the CW.

The series is set to air this Autumn on CBS in the US, with a UK broadcaster yet to be announced.
