Star Trek 3 could see William Shatner reprise role as Captain Kirk

Captain Kirk the original Captain of the enterprise could reprise his role for Star Trek 3.

It has been a long 20 years since William Shatner was on the big screen as Kirk, when he cameo in the 1994 movie Star Trek: Generation.

The script for the latest installment in the science fiction saga, from Roberto Orci, JD Payne and Patrick McKay, reportedly features a part for the character Captain Kirk, which was first played by Shatner in the TV series which ran from 1966 to 1969.

Fans will be delighted to hear, that if our sources are correct the script currently include a meeting between Shatners Captain Kirk and Leonard Nimoy’s Spock. Although revisions can still be made to the initial outline, it is said that the scenes are integral enough that it will survive any future changes.

With the Movie expected to mark 50 years of the franchise, these scenes will be a huge welcome from new and old fans.

This is not the first time Kirk has been written into a Star Trek, in the 2009 JJ Abrams movie he was written in and then through subsequent revisions removed.

Nimoy and Shatner have not stared opposite each other in a Star Trek Movie, since 1991 when Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country was released.
