USA Network has given the green light to movie forward for a full season order for new hacker drama ‘Mr robot’.

The series which could not come at a more relevant time, depicts a young programmer named Elliot (Rami Malek), who suffers from a disorder that means he can only emotionally connect to people by hacking them.

The mysterious Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) then recruits Elliot into an underground hacker organisation that seeks to bring down corporate America.

The drama’s pilot was announced in October and it is the first one to be commissioned by USA Network for the 2015-16 season.

USA Network president Chris McCumber said: “Mr. Robot could not be more timely and relevant. The creative team behind this series has done a brilliant job, taking viewers on a wild ride that leaves them wanting more.

“Rami gives a masterful performance as a hacker and unlikely hero, alongside Christian, who is perfectly cast as Mr. Robot.”

The script is written by Sam Esmail, who also acts as executive producer alongside Steve Golin (True Detective), Chad Hamilton (Breakup at a Wedding) and Niels Arden Oplev (Under the Dome). Oplev also directed the pilot.

No confirmed date has yet been announced when the new series will air.
