Homeland season 4Homeland season 4 starts this week both in the UK and US, actress Nazanin Boniadi recently spoke about the new series.

Homeland Season 3 ended with Damien Lewis Character Brody being hanged, leaving the series to take on a new direction for its 4th series.

Boniadi said that the new series is “very much a reboot”, after the exit of Nicholas Brody and that show runner Alex Gansa is a masterminds at reinvention.   Boniadi – who plays CIA operative Fara also went onto say in an interview,

“The fact that they kept Brody alive for three seasons and still kept it interesting is testament to that, because I think Alex has gone on the record and said that they had plans to kill Brody early on and they couldn’t, because he was just so good.  But there’s only so much do with that character – because of the nature of the character – and I think everybody realised it was time to move on from that storyline. No character but Carrie (Claire Danes) is safe on this show.”

Nazanin Boniadi also recently spoke out about the controversial scenes in the 3rd series ,where Saul (Mandy Patinkin) impugn  Fara for wearing her hijab, saying it was disrespectful.  Boniadi commented,

“I think it’s very true to life I think there are a lot of feelings attached to religion and I think her head scarf symbolised something. They had just lost a lot of their colleagues in the CIA and I think [Saul’s] reaction… I’m not saying it was justified, but I understand where it came from, and equally I understand how Fara found that incredibly unjust and unfair.”

Homeland returns with its new season tonight (October 5) at 9pm on Showtime in the US and this Sunday (October 12 )on Channel 4 in the UK.
