Martial Arts Drama ‘Badlands’ receives series order from AMC

AMC have added a new series to their 2015 line up, with Badlands give the green light to go straight to a 6 episode series.

The network on Friday announced a six-episode series order of there new high octane Martial arts Drama, set in a land controlled by feudal barons and tells the story of a great warrior and a young boy who embark on a journey across a dangerous land to find enlightenment.

he project which is loosely based on the classic Chinese tale “Journey to the West” ,was created by Smallville’s Al Gough and Miles Millar. They will executive-produce with Stacy Sher, Michael Shamberg, Daniel Wu and Stephen Fung. Season 1 will consist of six one-hour episodes.

“We are incredibly excited to help Al and Miles, as well as Stacey and Michael from Double Feature to bring Badlands to life,” said Joel Stillerman, AMC’s Executive Vice-President of Original Programming, Production and Digital Content. “This creative team has so much expertise in bringing a fresh take to classic genres from their film and television experience, and their take on martial arts will be no exception. Along with a beautiful story, they’ve also assembled the A-Team of martial arts fight choreography in Daniel Wu and Stephen Fung.”

Badlands joins the recent news that Better Caul has not only got a full season 1 order, but has received a season 2 order from AMC prior to any episodes airing.
