New Political drama Madam secretary is been picked up Sky Living.

The CBS drama – which stars Téa Leoni and Morgan Freeman – premiered to 14.7 million viewers in the US last month, becoming one of the season’s best performing new series.

When the secretary of state’s plane disappears, a former CIA analyst and friend of the president Elizabeth McCord (Leoni), is called out of semi-retirement to take the post. The staff hates her, the West Wing is skeptical, and her children are bratty high school kids who hate DC life. Oh, and something is fishy with the last top diplomat’s disappearance.

Sky Living’s channel director, Antonia Hurtford-Jones, said: “I knew as soon as I saw Madam Secretary at this year’s LA screenings it was perfect for Sky Living.

“It’s a smart, pacy quality drama which has you hooked from the start. I feel confident our customers are going to love it.”

Meanwhile, CBS said that it is “pleased to continue working with Sky to bring the best US programming to UK audiences”.

Madam Secretary continues on Sunday (October 26) at 8/7c on CBS. Sky Living has yet to confirm a air datee for the series.
