Stunt man come actor Alain Moussi is set to take over from Jean-Claude Van Damme in the Kickboxer  reboot…

The planned reboot of the  movies remains active,  but now with X-Men days of future past stuntman Alain Moussi taking the lead role.  It was also originally planned that Thai actor Tony Jaa would take over the role as Master Chow.  But since he dropped out from the role, there has been a slight reshuffle and have brought back in the original Star of the 80’s and 90’s franchise,  Jean Claude Van Damme will step into the role of Master Chow and be Alain Moussi mentor.

“We are so excited to have Kickboxer roll into production and to have JCVD in the role of Master Chow, passing the torch to Alain, to have him lead the franchise to a new generation,” producer Ted Field in a statement accompanying the announcement. “Audiences better get ready for this incredible reboot. The action is going to be non-stop with never-before seen stunts. Simply put, Kickboxer will kick-ass!”

Along with Moussi, Van Damme joins former professional wrestler Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) and MMA fighter-turned-actor George St. Pierre (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) in the cast of the film, which follows a martial arts who enters a deadly tournament in order to avenge the death of his brother.

Field also promised “non-stop” action and “never-before-seen stunts”.

The new Kickboxer is being directed by John Stockwell, and started filming this week. Expect a release towards the end of 2015.
