..The brink season 2.
HBO have confirmed that their new comedy series ‘The Brink’ will be back for a further 10 episode, following a season2 renewal.

The Brink opens as a rogue general seizes control of Pakistan and its nuclear arsenal, the fate of the world rests on the shoulders of three improbable Americans: Secretary of State Walter Larson, lowly Foreign Service officer Alex Talbot and ace Navy fighter pilot Zeke Tilson. From the turbulent streets of the Middle East, to the White House situation room, to an aircraft carrier on the Red Sea, these three compromised souls must pull through the chaos around them to save the planet from World War Three.

The ten episode series was created by Roberto Benabib & Kim Benabib and stars Jack Black, Tim Robbins, Pablo Schreiber, Aasif Mandvi, Maribeth Monroe, Eric Ladin, Esai Morales and Geoff Pierson. Guest stars lined up for the first season include John Larroquette, Carla Gugino, Mimi Kennedy, Melanie Kannokada, Marshall Manesh, Meera Syal, Erick Avari, Iqbal Theba, Rob Brydon, Michelle Gomez, Lamont Thompson, Bernard White, Jaimie Alexander and Mary Farbe, Roberto Benabib, Jay Roach and the late Jerry Weintraub served as executive producers.

Despite decent ratings for the series premiere and subsequent episodes, HBO execs took their time on deciding whether or not to renew the series. The official pick up came more or less down to the wire, with the options on the cast (which had already been extended) due to expire later this week. The Brink joins Ballers in scoring a second season renewal, leaving only one series on HBO’s current Sunday night line-up, True Detective, awaiting word of its fate.

The Brink currently air in the UK on Sky Atlantic.

The new promo, which runs for all of seventeen seconds, consists of the footage previously released last week (also during an episode of Wayward Pines) with an extra five seconds showing a brief conversation between Mulder (Duchovny) and Scully (Anderson). “Are you ready for this?”, Mulder asks. Prompting Scully to respond: “I don’t know there’s a choice”.
