Jason Reitman
and Nick Hornby are teaming up on the True story of the Catt family, in ” I would only Rob Banks for my Family”.

The Men, Women & Children director and London-based novelist are adapting Skip Hollandsworth’s Texas Monthly article ‘I Only Rob Banks For My Family’, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

But what is the story? Back in 2012 a family of 3 decided to go into the bank robbery business.  The Catts pulled off only two robberies: the first being the Comerica heist, which netted them close to $70,000, and the second one coming two months later at First Community Credit Union, on Katy’s Cinco Ranch Boulevard, where they got away with $30,000. On the morning of November 9, five weeks after the second robbery, they were getting ready to rob a third Katy bank when Nehls’s detectives, who had conducted some nifty investigative work, arrived at Nottingham Place and arrested them.

The family consisted of a father hand his daughter and son.  When his son was later interviewed after being sentenced to prison he said, “I did it for the family,” he said. “I swear to you, I would only rob banks for my family.”

Reitman is known for the films Up in the Air, Young Adult and Labor Day.

It will follow Reitman’s work on Hulu series Casual.

Hulu just put in a ten episode straight-to-series order for Casual with Jason Reitman serving as executive producer so it’s unclear whether or not “I Would Only Rob Banks for My Family” will be before or after the series.

More on this as we have it.
