It has been expected to come at some point, and fans of the X Men franchise have speculated over when it would happen, it has now been confirmed that 2017 will be the last time Jackman will play the invincible Marvel Character Wolverine.

It would have been 17 years when he wear those claws for the last time in Wolverine 3, so it no wonder that after 9 movies he has officially announced the news.

He recently said on the DR OZ Show,

“It is my last time,” he said. “It felt like it was the right time to do it. And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it. I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out.”

We have all pondered over who will replace him in the iconic role even us ( see article click here), but it feels as though the will be some big shows to fill after him truly making it his own.

The 3rd solo Wolverine outing will star Jackman and Patrick Stewart, with The Wolverine’s James Mangold back in the director’s chair.

The Wolverine sequel is due to open in cinemas on March 3, 2017.
