The Crime Drama Forever has picked up a further 13 episodes from ABC.

The supernatural drama that stars Ioan Gruffudd was originally only handed a 9 episode order, that has now been increased to a full 22 episodes.

Gruffudd plays Dr Henry Morgan, a New York City’s star medical examiner that is immortal. With the help of detective Jo Martinez, the show peels back the layers of Henry’s colorful and long life through their cases.

The show, which was created by Matthew Miller also stars Judd Hirsch, Alana De La Garza, Joel David Moore, Barbara Eve Harris and Donnie Keshawarz.

The back-nine order comes 7 episodes into the show’s freshman run. While not a huge rating hit, Forever has nevertheless been a decent performer for ABC, with the most recent episode averaging just under 5 million viewers and a 1.1 A18-49 demo rating.

ABC also recently handed a full season order to How To Get Away With Murder, which is currently airing in the UK on Universal.

Forever airs in the US on Tuesdays nights on ABC, whilst Sky 1 airs the crime drama on Thursdays in the UK.
