After being off our screens since 2009, Prison Break is set to make a return for a 5th season but what do we know about this highly anticipated reboot.

Prison break lasted 4 seasons and generated a loyal following, and has since gone on to acquire further fans of the show through box set binge watching. It is set to follow in the footsteps of TV comebacks like 24 Live another day, the X files revival as well as the currently airing Heroes Reborn.

Season 5 is set to begin production this coming April, with Fox already revealing some of the characters set to return and new faces.

Actress Inbar Lavi who recently starred in ” The Last Ship”, is set to be a new cast as Lincoln new love interest, with Marina Benedict from “Flesh and bones” also joining the cast.

Miller and Purcell – Michael and his burly brother Lincoln Burrows – were the first to be 100% confirmed by Fox to be taking part in the Prison Break revival, after resparking their on screen chemistry in last years The Flash.

It was shortly confirmed that Sarah Wayne Callies – Michael’s beloved Sara Tancredi would be joining from the original cast. These announcements were soon followed up with Michaels cell mate Fernado Sucre played by Amaury Nolasco.  Of course the series could not really return with out our firm favourite here at MyGezza Theodore Bagwell ( T Bag) played wonderfully by Robert Knepper who was confirmed to have signed up shortly after.

Another new face set to join the cast has also been announced for season 5 as Royal Pains actor Mark Feuerstein, who is set to play  Scott who is the love interested of Michael’s former lover Sara Tancredi, ( don’t forget we were lead to believe that Michael died at the end of season 4.)

While these three new characters in “Prison Break” Season 5 will be playing a major role to help Sara and Lincoln perform the series’ biggest escape ever, many fans are wondering how Michael will react when he finds out about Sara’s new life.

It has been said that  “a logical and believable explanation to why the characters are alive and still moving around the world”. will be given.

Our most concrete plot synopsis arrived along with Callies’ casting in March 2016: “When clues surface suggesting that Michael may be alive, Sara teams with Lincoln to engineer the series’ biggest escape ever.”

Original series creator Paul Scheuring was originally announced as penning the first episode – and was said to be crafting a ‘series bible’ for the remainder of the season, but it has since been confirmed that he will bee penning all 10 episodes and is hoping to inject a little of that season 1 magic.

Though an air-date is yet to be confirmed, the event series is expected to premier sometime in late 2016 or early 2017.
