It seems that DC comics will be adding another TV series to their slate of comic book character adaptions, with Fox giving the greenlight to a pilot order for ‘Lucifer’.

The series comes from Californication creator Tom Kapinos, with Sleepy Hollow Jerry Bruckheimer producing.

Lucifer follows the eponymous character who, bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals.

The announcement that Lucifer is being picked up by fox, follows last years successful acquisition of DC Comics series Gotham.  Fox also currently have in the works a Minority Report sequel, and new Frankenstein series.

Lucifer first appeared in the pages of DC Comics in Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen, and was later revived by Neil Gaiman in The Sandman in 1989.
