The X Files that ran from 1993 to 2002 has been rumoured to be making a come back since the last 2008 movie, but whats the facts.

Both David Duchovny  ( Mulder) and Gillian Anderson (Scully) have expressed their interest in coming back for a 3rd movie, even though the last 2008 film didn’t do incredibly well at the Box Office and was  no critical master piece either.

Last year at Comic Con the stars and the creator Chris Carter celebrated 20 years since the original series aired, and spoke about the possible revival of the series and another movie and that the 3rd movie if ever done should be about Aliens.  After comic Con Duchovny even went as far as to try to get fans to write into the studio begging for another movie, whether his motivation was due to lack of work or simply because he really enjoys making the X-Files, your guess is as good as mine.

Then in March 2013 IDW and Fox both announced that the Comic- book would be revived (what the original series was based on) with chief creative officer at IDW stating,

“my excitement level went off the charts after a meeting with Chris Carter, where he agreed to come aboard and executive produce our Season 10. In much the same way Joss Whedon steered our Angel: After the Fall series, Chris has graciously returned to do the same here. What do The X-Files look like in this increasingly paranoid and untrusting post-Wikileaks era? Well, they look like canon to me… and come June, the rest of the world will be able to see it for themselves, too.”

More recently Duchovny has spoken out again about bringing back his character Fox Mulder, with him telling the Rolling Stones

“I would always want to do it,” he said. “I wish we’d done more already.

He has now finished playing Hank moody in californication, so does this mean that he will now have more time to start pushing for another X-Files Movie, or a season 10.  Well he did say in his interview with Rolling stones

“I never think it’s done. I’d say, it’s never done until one of us dies( Duchovny, Anderson, Cater) – until one of us three is gone.”

* Since writing X-files Creator Chris Carter said, when speaking about the possibility of a reboot happening in the future, “That’s just a way of saying there certainly have been conversations.”

Last summer, Carter dropped hints also about an X-Files 3 movie.
