Bourne 5 has been confirmed by Universal to be in cinemas by 2016, but although the dates seem to be staying the same not all is as it seems.

Since Bourne Ultimtium came out back in 2007, producers have been trying to entice Matt Damon back to reprise his role as Jason Bourne.  When in 2011 they were unsuccessful they move forward with casting Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross instead, and released The Bourne Legacy in 2012.

Although compared to the previous movies in the franchise, Bourne Legacy was panned by critics, but the studios and producer felt that it was just bridging the gap from Jason Bourne to a new set of characters, Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) and Dr. Marta Shearing (Rachel Weisz).

So Bourne 5 was given a scheduled release date of  July 2016, with Renner signed back on to star as Aaron Cross.  But now it seems that there has been a slight turn of events as director Paul Greengrass who directed both previous movies Bourne Supremacy and Ultimatium has agreed to come back on board for another Bourne movie, with Matt Damon  all over signing on like a rash.

In fairness to Damon he did say over a year ago that if Paul Grengrass was to come back to direct then he would “love to” come back as well.

So now it seems that Damon has set to appear in Bourne 5 in July 2016, with Renner Movie still going ahead also to be released at a later date.

There has also been rumours layed by down by producer Frank Marshall that he would like to a do a Bourne movie with both Damon and Renner in it , at present no details have been released about this happening but for all your Bourne fans just be pleased that we now have a Bourne 5 & 6 on its way.
