Paramount have announced that they will be moving forward with A ‘Baywatch’ Movie, with Dwayne Johnson set to star.

We reported back in July that director Chris Cottom was looking to make a Baywatch movie but was unable to obtain the rights to use the name, so was pressing ahead with a joint project with  former Baywatch cast member Jaason Simmons.

It now seems that Paramount have decided to move forward with their long rumoured Baywatch Movie, which leaves Chris Cottom B Team Movie where, well were not sure.

But what we do know is Dwayne Johnson has been signed to take a lead role and confirmed this recently via his Instagram, with a statement saying

“This is my beach bitch!,” the 42-year-old wrote. “Rumours are true… we’re making #BAYWATCH the movie. Edgy, raunchy and hopefully, funny as all hell. Cue slo mo running on the beach… #WhoNeedsMouthToMouth #RedShortsBeHugginABrotha”

Furthermore according to THR Sean Anders and John Morris are attached to direct the project, while Justin Malen has been hired to write the script.

With the original series having been of air since 2001, Dwayne Johnson is a good casting to take a lead in the action comedy movie.

As of yet we do not know if  any of the original cast members such as David Hasselhoff or Pamela Anderson will be returning for the movie.
