AMC launches in UK with ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ their first acquisition

AMC fear the walking dead..
The American network behind such incredible TV shows like Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Mad Men and Better Call Saul is set to launch in the UK later this year.

A multi year deal has been struct with BT for the channel to be available to their YouView customers.

The channels first announcement and first series to be picked up in the UK is the spin of series ‘Fear The Walking Dead’. The channel will also air upcoming AMC original series, as well as acquire series from outside producers and air a range of feature films. Existing licensing deals for AMC programming – such as FOX UK’s deal for The Walking Dead and Amazon’s deal for streaming rights – will not be effected

“AMC has become synonymous with bold, dramatic original programming of the highest quality. We’re excited to partner with BT to launch AMC for the first time in the UK”, said Ed Carroll, COO of AMC Networks. “This agreement highlights the strong demand for our channels and will enable us to continue developing a far-reaching platform for AMC’s original programming.”

With The Walking Dead currently airing on Fox which is available to the 10 + million that subscribe to Sky, Fans of the show will miss out on the spin off unless they sign up to BT service at a rate of £10 per month plus line rental.
