A Series of Unfortunate Events set to get series adaption by Netflix

Daniel Handler 113 titles of Lemony Snicket Series of Unfortunate Events, will be turned into a series by Netflix.

It seems that the Streaming giant is jumping on the band wagon turning movies into serialised drama, after the recent acquisition of A series of Unfortunate events.

Jim Carrey took the lead role as Count Olaf in the 2004 movie of the same name.  The story follows orphans Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire at the hands of the villainous Count Olaf, as they face trials and tribulations, misfortunes and an evil uncle in search of their fortune, all in their quest to uncover the secret of their parents’ deaths.

Paramount are producing though their recently re-launched TV division in association with Netflix. Original author Daniel Handler will serve as an executive producer on the series, while the two companies are currently searching for a writer and director to take on the project.
